I can’t imagine a life without books.
I am a writer, editor and independent scholar. I have read anything I could lay my hands on since I was five. I have always been lucky to live within walking distance of my local library and to have had excellent teachers who encouraged a love of reading. Reading and writing have always been the ways I make sense of the world. I love the internet but, for me, books have pages made of paper that you can turn.
This blog is a space for talking about the books I have read, mainly fiction but also non fiction. It is also a place for my own writing, both published and unpublished. My interests are fairly eclectic, so expect a mixed bag. I have written for The Age on food and so there may be the occasional recipe. I have a PhD on the Country Women’s Association which gives me credibility in the scone department.
Thank you for visiting. I hope you enjoy your time here.

I’m very impressed by your credentials (the scone bit). Like you, I like to combine a good book and a good recipe!
Thanks Kate! You are a woman after my own heart 🙂
